There is something special about the diversity, hearing many languages, the intensity of people, places and difference. The culture, art, theatre and faith so compacted and collected in one space. The intensity is especially unique in New York due to its physical restrains – the rivers that surround it.
New York is really a merging and combination of villages, and within that histories and cultures. This brings diversity, and it also brings division. This is always the challenge for us as we work in the city, bringing dialogue out of the diversity rather than division.
This is a picture from the top of Riverside Church it’s actually higher than the Empire State building because it’s on top of a hill!
